DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH Trainer

How does the edit chiral chrystals and other materials section work? do they alter what you are currently carrying? I notice the numbers in the trainer does not match up with that I have on my cargo or in any of the storage sites. how does that stuff work and how do we use it?
 
a great trainer item would be to multiply the likes from completing missions (to speed up 5 staring contacts.)
