That doesn't sound like the gold option is affecting your items not appearing in your inventory. Does it work if you don't enable the gold cheat?

The stats are reset to their original value at the start of battle.

I also can't use unlimited gold, the only thing that works for me is speed

Yes due to the way the game is coded it happens like that, you just set them again when they reset.

Perhaps the game has updated since I made the trainer
